Final Project: Party Like A Rockstar

For my final project I thought about continuing to work with people and stop motion. After talking with Patrick I had some new ideas to work with. We talked about having more of a choreographed performance while working with people, which automatically made me think of dancing. Since people just dancing would be boring, I thought that I would make the energy drinks that had been keeping me awake for the past week do a performance instead. I gave the cans an upbeat techno song to dance to due to their energetic nature that they would most likely have if they were alive. During critique someone mentioned that its an interesting song because that is the way energy drinks make you feel, sort of crazy and…. ENERGIZED.

The Contemporary Museum

This was the first time I have ever been in a contemporary museum so I found it very interesting. The room that kept me thinking the most was the small room that looked like a peaceful waiting room. It seemed so calm and inviting with a sign asking you to remove your shoes before entering. I was in the room with a couple other people and sitting in there we just wondered what was going on in the background. There where speakers set up around the room and you could hear two people talking, but they sounded very distressed. I sat there and listened to it a couple of times through and never really found out what was going on, although I could make out a couple of words. This part of the museum seemed most interesting to me.

Change of Heart

Before arriving at MICA I would only listen to mainstream music and never really knew any other music. Everyone where I live listen to the same type of music and don’t really branch out from what is playing on the radio. When I got here and heard everyones music I immediately fell in love with everything that everyone was showing me and I got excited to bring the music home to my friends. I listen to pretty much anything so it wasn’t hard for me to like most of what everyone was showing me. It really opened my mind and made me wonder what else I was missing by constraining myself to such a limited range of music styles.

Inspiration

I really appreciated classical art when I visited Europe in eighth grade. Seeing everything in text books and magazines just didn’t do it justice. To really appreciate the artwork of the masters you have to see it up close and in person. I remember walking into the Sistine Chapel and being in awe of how huge it was and how big the paintings on the walls actually were. Learning how much time and effort Michelangelo put into his work was amazing and inspiring to me. It was not only him but going through the Louvre and seeing some of the world’s most famous works of art made me want to pursue and create art even more than I already did. Seeing the classical works of art really go me interested in more realistic types of artwork and I find myself to be a perfectionist in everything that I do. I really enjoy creating photorealistic pieces of work even though it is really time consuming.
